"The intersection of nature and innovation."
Ā

My true passion lies at the intersection of nature and innovation. It’s more than just my work—it's my life’s purpose.
Nature operates with an extraordinary intelligence, one that we often overlook. At rare moments, I’ve been fortunate enough to glimpse this living wisdom and witness its incredible power. I believe that within this intelligence are the answers we need to solve the pressing challenges of our time. Everything in nature is interconnected: remove the weeds, and you disrupt the healing they offer; clear coastal forests, and you invite floods miles inland; disconnect people from nature, and they suffer both physically and emotionally.

My work focuses on observing nature’s processes and applying them to restoration efforts. The goal is to intervene only briefly, allowing nature to heal itself and thrive. By following nature’s lead, large-scale restoration becomes achievable without relying on heavy machinery or massive investments.
Some examples of this approach are the Miyawaki method of reforestation and Seed to Forest projects.
The Miyawaki method fosters the rapid growth of dense, biodiverse forests by planting a mix of species that mimic natural ecosystems. This technique can create resilient native forests almost anywhere.
The Seed to Forest project is an experimental approach to reforestation that mimics natural successional growth, where each plant species prepares the environment for the next. This method enables quick and low-cost restoration, even in degraded or arid landscapes, without the need for ongoing maintenance or irrigation.
I believe this is the future of reforestation and ecological restoration.
The beauty of my work isn’t just in reconnecting with nature but also in partnering with local communities and tapping into their wisdom. Their knowledge and traditions are vital in creating meaningful and sustainable restoration efforts.
Ultimately, my purpose is to serve as a bridge between nature and the innovative solutions we need to implement at scale. The journey is challenging, but it's one filled with hope and beauty.
